The Essential Annual DOT Inspection Explained
Navigating Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations is critical for every commercial truck and trailer. An Inspection is not just a formality; it’s a mandatory safety check to ensure your vehicle meets the stringent standards set by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and local authorities. These comprehensive inspections are designed to keep our roads safe and your operations compliant.
-Why is a DOT Inspection required? To verify that all vehicle components (brakes, lights, tires, steering, suspension, frame, etc.) are in safe operating condition, preventing accidents and ensuring regulatory adherence.
-Who needs an Inspection? Any commercial motor vehicle (CMV) with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 10,001 pounds or more, or vehicles designed to transport 16 or more passengers (including the driver), or those transporting hazardous materials, typically requires regular DOT inspections.

FAQs About DOT Mobile Inspection Services
How much does a DOT or 90-Day Inspection cost?
Our inspection rates are based on the number of axles on your equipment. The base inspection fee is $100 for a single axle, with an additional charge of $20 for each subsequent axle. For example, a three-axle semi-tractor inspection costs $140.
Where can I get the inspection done?
We are a mobile inspection service that comes to a reasonable, safe location of your choosing. This can include a home address, parking lot, fuel station, rest stop, or truck yard. This allows you to focus on what’s important—being home and not wasting your day off at a shop.
If my vehicle fails an inspection, do you provide repairs?
No, we are an inspection-only company and provide only inspections, no repairs. In accordance with the Department of Transportation, any affected area(s) that caused the failure must be corrected before the truck can be put back in service.
Do you charge a service charge for coming out?
There is no charge for appointments within the local Bakersfield area. Any area outside of Bakersfield will have a service charge applied for coming out, with the charge depending on the location.
Do you provide paperwork after the inspection?
Yes, absolutely. After the inspection is complete, a detailed inspection form will be provided to you to keep in your truck for your records. Additionally, a digital form along with any pictures of concern regarding the truck or trailer can also be emailed to you upon request.
